Bachelor of Optometry

Bachelor of Optometry is an undergraduate program concerning eye care. Optometry is the science of eye care including eye examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the visual system. It is a vision care science. Bachelor of Optometry is a four-year course containing three years of learning and a year of internship in clinical experience.
An optometrist is a healthcare professional who is capable of prescribing and dispensing vision correcting lenses, spectacles, diagnosing eye disease and treating them (to an extent)and referring patients to an Ophthalmologist/relevant Doctor (if required).
An optometrist is capable of diagnosis of ocular diseases. But he/she will have to refer the case to a qualified Doctor, if the patient needs surgery or advanced treatment. If the problem can be corrected by lenses, spectacles or minor treatment procedures, an optometrist may take care of the patient.

10+2 passed with PCM or PCB group and English as a subject from a recognized board.
